The president gives an amnesty to a turkey the day before thanksgiving day every year at the White house. This is to thank and atone for the turkey which is eaten by people in the day. The turkey given an amnesty isn't eaten, it is sent to a farm, and lives happily.

What do you usually do when you feel stressed and want to relax?

What do you usually do when you feel stressed and want to relax? There are many methods how to reduce stress; listening to musics, drinking coffee, playing sports and so on. Today, I'd like to introduce the special chocolate named "GABA" which make us relaxed.

"GABA" is produced by Glico as a "mental balance chocolate" in April 2005, and loved by not only women, but also men. "GABA" has two tastes, milk and bitter. If you don't like sweet chocolate, I recommend you to try bitter. It's not so sweet and that's why a lot of men like it.

Anyway, why is this product named "GABA"? What a strange name, isn't it? But there is a proper reason. "GABA" is the one of amino acid called "Gamma- Amino Butyric Acid", and it is found that "GABA" has a good effect for reducing our stress. Glico had an eye on it, and mixed into chocolate at high rate. So you can feel relaxed after eat this chocolate. Also, "GABA" has a good effect for preventing cholesterol and neutral fat from increasing, and making weaked liver by alcohol work normally.

Glico also produces cocoa powder of "GABA", so you can relax with a cup of hot cocoa in cold winter!

Do you know Kinakomochi?

Do you know Kinakomochi? If not, you can find it at convenience stores and super markets easily. Kinakomochi is a kind of chocolate produced by TIROL-CHOCO CO. LTD. I think that the chocolate is really Japanese flavor, because Kinako is made from soybeans. People usually use this soybean flour to cook Japanese-style confectionery. In addition, this chocolate has small Mochi which is called as rice cake in English inside. As you know, Mochi is necessary for New Year in Japan. Both Kinako and Mochi have important connection to Japanese food culture and many people in Japan know that Mochi goes well with Kinako.

This chocolate has Kinakomochi taste. I really recommend to you. There are tree types of this taste. Firstly, you can buy one of them at supermarkets and it cost 10yen. Secondly there is bigger type which cost 20yen at convenience stores. Finally the other one is a type packed 10 of the small one which you can get at only supermarkets. Although I said that you can buy the chocolate easily, it’s getting difficult to find it because of the popularity. More and more people love it and buy a lot of the chocolate at a time. Kinakomochi is sold in only winter, so you should rush to a supermarket and look for it right now.

Do you know Banana Vinegar?

Do you know banana vinegar? Recently it has been on TV programs and magazines. Vinegar is known as a good ingredient for health, but banana vinegar is much better because banana is a perfect fruit rich in dietary fiber and in vitamins. Also it is a treasury of potassium to resolve fat, so you can expect to lose your weigh healthfully. You can find banana vinegar in some supermarkets or drug stores, but also you can make it by yourself. What you needs are just bananas, vinegar and sugar.

How do you take banana vinegar? You can mix it with milk or soy milk. It also tastes good to pour banana vinegar on yogurt or salad. Recently I take banana vinegar with yogurt every day, and I feel my skin has become beautiful!I make it by myself. I use cider vinegar and brown sugar, and these ingredients are more effective on our health and beauty than normal vinegar and sugar.

On 28th and 29th October, “Hamakaze Festival” was carried out at KUIS!!

Every year, there are various shops in KUIS-Korean or Chinese traditional foods, curry, pancakes and so on. Moreover, this year is anniversary-20years old, so Most of all KUIS students had high motivation.

The members were Freshman 6 class mates and we sold fried chickens and fried potatoes. During preparing time, we made some decorations for our shop. We wanted to make like real convenience store “LAWSON”. That’s why our shop’s name was “LAKWSON”.

I couldn’t go 1st day because of my part-time job so, I did my best on 2nd day. I was very surprised of our foods. It was very delicious! Because of this, many people came there and bought it. I also went around some shops and ate foods. Especially, I liked “Chijimi” because native Korean people made it so, it was real taste and good tastes.

Of course, we sold out our foods!

This was the first time that we did event together, so we could spend wonderful time there

Chocolates and the Effect in our Life

Chocolates are popular in Japan recently. We can find them in the convenience stores. Of course, there are in KUIS at MARUZEN. Sometimes, I see people having them. I also bought them when I want to relax.

There are many kinds of chocolates. I think that the popular taste is bitter. The bitter chocolates are made by many chocolates manufacturer to people. The major companies sell bitter chocolates that contain high rate cacao. They are also reported by TV or magazines.
Some people may not know what effect chocolates have. They think that they will be fat, or chocolates will give them bad influence. However, chocolates are pointed as helping their health now. Especially, the cacao contained in chocolates helps health. So I researched the effects of it simply. Firstly, chocolates help to protect illness like cancer and arteriosclerosis or keep people from stress. Moreover, they prompt to increase power of concentration or memory. It’s useful to manage our health.

Thus, chocolates may support the health and life. They aren’t just sweets. There are people who enjoy choosing the taste and smell. In my opinion, if we are tired to study or part-time jobs, it’s good to eat chocolates and relax with them. So I recommend eating chocolates, but chocolates have fat, you don’t have to eat them too many.

Hello everyone! My home town is Tochigi. As you know Tochigi is famous for delicious gyouza. Do you want to know the history of gyoza? Today I want to tell you the history of gyoza!!

The origin of Gyouza The skin of gyouza is made from wheat. From B.C. 3000 to 2000 wheat was cultivated for the first time in history in China. From B.C. 206 to 220 something like gyouza appeared in some scrolls. After triple cropping of wheat began, the way of milling with waterwheel was introduced from West and wheat began to be mass-produced, gyouza became popular food inChina. It was from 618 to 907. The name of “Gyouza” was first appeared in 1368. Gyouza came to Japan

In the Edo period, in “Syu syusui-danki” of the Mito Clan the word “gyouza” is recorded for the first time. The first person who ate gyouza is Mitsukunikou Tokugawa, known as foodie. Gyouza which had been produced as Chinese snacks became gradually popular since 1945.

After the war finished, people who repatriated from Northeast China brought gyouza which was staple food in the region. In black markets, stalls, or precincts of shrines among many parts of Japan gyouza was made by following the example of others. People were so surprised at the strange figure of them they have never seen. Although in China they often eat them boiled (sui gyouza), Japanese were fond of them burned (yaki gyouza).

Gyouza craftsmen in many parts of Japan tried to quest out best taste of gyouza which would be loved by Japanese. In those days Japanese were poor so gyouza was popular with them as stamina food because they are full of nutrition and we can made them at a cheap cost.
